Our Diagnosis

It sounds like your pond water has high pH

How to be sure

Your test results show alkaline or high pH levels (above 8.4) and your pond generally looks ok – this is an invisible water quality problem. Your fish won’t like it – they may appear pale or dark and shimmy, scratch, jump and flick against objects in the pond.

Step 1 – Treat your pond

Changes in pH should always be made gradually. Never change the pH value by more than 0.5 in any one day.

Step 2 – Support your fish

  • Dose with Pond Guardian Tonic Salt to help support the fish’s immune system
  • If your fish are gasping at the surface, increase oxygen levels by adding an air pump.
